Let's look at how to use Pan Pastels.
They have many uses, here are a few:
We will be looking at all these projects and showing you how we use them.
Couldn't resist using the image of a stack of Pan Pastels, we think it's just amazing, a little bit scary, can't imaging what the future is going to be like, what's next with AI?
What do you think of that image? tell us right here.
We have both Videos and Written help with Pan Pastels on this page, hope it helps.

Here they are all tidy in their stack.
There are a lot of colours here, but the downside of this stack is - you can not see to read the actual colour of the pan.
The only way to see this information is to un-stack them all.
They come apart easy enough, you just have to twist them, they are all screwed into each other.
Once they are all loose, you can read all the information about them on the bottom of each pan.
It would be more helpful if the actual colour was somehow printed on the side of the pan.
Here are the pan pastels all un-stacked, as you can see there are lots of colours, some have marks on where we have previously used them.

Here are our pastel sponge tools.
You can buy packets of little different shaped sponges that slide onto the end of the plastic handles.
These are excellent for adding pan pastels to your artwork.
Once you have finished with them, you can put them in a little pot with some washing up cleaner, they won't come out to their original colour, but they will be clean to use again.
Here is a short video, it shows you what you can do with these brushes. This site is about Drawing Animals, so what's that got to do with Pan Pastels and their sponges? Well there are a lot of animal drawings that do have backgrounds and this is where these fabulous tools help. |
